A proposed design for clients who wanted a very low maintenance outdoor space that was an extension of their London home.

The design makes use of the different height levels to create different seating/entertaining areas with a small 'ziggurat-inspired' pool for cooling down on hot summer evenings.

The planting is simple, with two flowering Prunus serrula 'Branklyn' with shiny copper toned bark and a small habit, something important in London gardens. Beneath the shade of the trees are groundcover plantings of hackenlochloa macra, ferns, sesleria autumnalis and geranium phaeum album, as well as carpets of spring bulbs of iris reticulata and galanthus.

Blocks of hornbeam and yew hedging add year-round structure
